It's the end of the month and once again I've failed to get into double figures for records shared. It's not that I've not been busy; the list of discs digitised gets longer, but editing audacity files and tagging the damned things takes time. And when that's done I don't always feel like trying to find something interesting and/or entertaining to say about a record or band. Moan moan moan.

So here's a great and, relatively, rare release from Ohio's Gibson Bros. For the uninitiated, Gibson Bros are one of the great missing link bands of the past twenty years. Their most easily available record, Memphis Sol Today on Sympathy, muddies the waters by having Jon Spencer on it. There's an interesting piece about them here which further explains that.

Members went on to form additionally influential acts 68 Comeback and Bassholes. Enjoy.

Finally, and on the last day of 2011, more from '68 Comeback. The band, as previously noted, featured a dazzling array of talent, including Peg 'Mo Tucker' (look at that pic above) O'Neill of Gories fame, Darin Lin Wood who played with Fireworks and Blacktop and the esteemed Monsieur Jeffery Evans, who had previously fronted The Gibson Brothers. Here we have covers of Big Joe Turner's Rhythm and Blues blast, Flip, Flop & Fly and traditional gospel track, He's My Everything. Much, much more to come. See you in 2012. Enjoy.

Not sure how I've managed to miss out on posting '68 Comeback so far. A garage, country, blues ... call it what you want but don't call it fucking gunk punk .. super-group, whose initial line-up contained a Gorie, a Gibson Brother, a Firework, a Royal Truck and a Monster Truck Fiver and whose line-ups ebbed and flowed over the years. This release is the nearest they came to the mainstream in England. Look, a real life A&R company's sticker is on the back. Here they flaunt their rock and roll chops. If you've never heard them before, be aware that Monsieur Jeffrey Evans' voice can be an acquired taste.
