It's only a few days since I accused The Lustorama of being Winkle Picker Rock and here I am uploading a full LP of frat rock vampirism. Except I think Fortune & Maltese have decent tunes and a tongue-in-cheek sense of humour which lifts them above pastiche. I do, I really do. Them, The Untamed Youth and The Saturn V featuring Orbit. More sounds from another one of our 'J' bands. This Tokyo-based bunch of twist and twangers are still with us after a career which has so far lasted around twenty years. This was their third Hillsdale release. Their 1+2 Records double 7" Nine Great Stomps EP was available here in August 2010 and the tracks have just been re-uploaded, as has Tales from Estrus Volume Two which features the band alongside Japanese compatriots American Soul Spiders, The Beyonds and Supersnazz. I've not posted any Untamed Youth since March, and that long without access to Mace is verging on the inhuman. Two tracks - the a-side is an uptempo instrumental, it's flip is an emotional cry from the heart from this most sensitive of bands. Issued on Johnny Bartlett's Hillsdale Records long after the tracks were recorded in 1987 and 1991. Enjoy.

Some vintage tracks this time. Unreleased instrumentals finally unleashed on vinyl via Johnny 'Big Hands' Bartlett's Hillsdale label. I won't say much as there are sleeve notes to read. It must be noted, however, that the 'crackle' on 'Plastic Coat' is on the original. Taking the phrase 'slightly worn' to new limits. Enjoy.

I confess to knowing absolutely nothing about Cecilia and her delicious Boredoms, beyond the fact that there was a flurry of activity round about the time this record was released. Sister releases on labels such as Wild Wild and Get Hip are illustrated on the back of this piece of retro Euro-chic.  Recommended for anybody whose lifestyle is dictated by an addiction to the Girls from the Garage LPs and a taste for The Avengers.

The first release from The Trashwomen is an all-instrumental treat which underlines how under-appreciated they were as a pure surf band. I'd put them up against any surf band you care to mention and expect them to emerge victorious. They'd kick away Dick Dale's walking stick, they'd surfers stomp The Phantom Surfers, they'd steal Man Or Astroman?'s lunch money*.  Get stuck in.
