The World's Greatest Rock'n'Roll band present Hell City, Hell, a cut from their first LP, The Smoke of Hell. I've no idea if it's an alternative mix, but having been pressed to 7" it will definitely sound different to that on the vinyl LP and better than that from fragile silver disc. On the flip is a cracking cover of Ice Cube's Dead Homiez. Enjoy.

Not sure how I've managed to miss out on posting '68 Comeback so far. A garage, country, blues ... call it what you want but don't call it fucking gunk punk .. super-group, whose initial line-up contained a Gorie, a Gibson Brother, a Firework, a Royal Truck and a Monster Truck Fiver and whose line-ups ebbed and flowed over the years. This release is the nearest they came to the mainstream in England. Look, a real life A&R company's sticker is on the back. Here they flaunt their rock and roll chops. If you've never heard them before, be aware that Monsieur Jeffrey Evans' voice can be an acquired taste.

The Sprague Brothers - Battle of the Bands! Hillsdale Records HR-19.

Straying more into a West Texas picking sound, here are the enigmatic Sprague Brothers on Johnny Bartlett's Hillsdale Records. Christopher Sprague and Deke Sprague were part of teen beat combo, The Untamed Youth. Texan powerhouse Frank L. Sprague has his own one man record party going on out there.

Strip Kings - Backlash. Redline RL4571.

A rock and roll screamer from Swinging London. I came across this lot supporting Bassholes on tour; Strip Kings drummer was doing the Bim Thomas / Rich Lillash job as Don Howland had come over on his own. They were an energetic bunch. A second single was released on Redline, along with an American release on In The Red. I haven't heard the former, but let the latter go some years back.
