Wah! Heat, male slags, male slates, at their thrashing, crashing post-Clash best. The production on their records became increasingly mannered, with all the rough edges knocked off and utilising that over-compressed super-tidy 80s major label sound. This, however, is the band at their peak and with production to suit. Enjoy.

It's a 12" single so I've had to nick the sleeve image from the internet. My copy has a sticker on it saying "Expect to pay around £1.25". The 12" adds nothing to the 7" release except that it's mastered super loud with wide open grooves. It's a bit crackly, but it was suffering from a minor mould infestation which I had to clean off. It's Wah! at their most super-bombastic; loud, punchy and confident. This upload is for the anonymous fella who asked for it when commenting on the original release of the flip side of this single, Forget The Down. Enjoy.

Apparently John Lennon would have been 70 this year and there has been some activity around this. At what point does it flip from dead pop star would have been X years old to dead pop star was born X years ago? Glass Torpedoes - Someone Different. Teen Beat Records 7". TBR1.

Scouse power pop from Peel favourites Glass Torpedoes this time. This is one of the few singles I still have from my youth. I liked this so much I bought a Glass Torpedoes badge from Better Badges and was thrilled beyond imagination itself when a young woman working in the Post Office in Spring Gardens in Manchester commented on it positively. Validation!

The band did a Peel session in January 1980, but by the time they recorded a second single singer Barbara Donovan was gone and the band were backing up singer John Milton for Unreal the Real, a pretty rotten soft metal single by John Milton and The Glass Torpedoes.
